Seville April Fair at Night: Public Casetas, the Lighting and After-Parties

· Updated:

The 2027 April Fair in Seville, Spain is expected from 12 to 18 April, with the pescaíto dinner expected on the night of Monday the 12th and the lights switched on at midnight, but the city council hasn't published its announcement yet; Wednesday 14 April has been proposed as a local holiday.

The Feria is a week-long city of more than a thousand casetas, most of them private marquees, set up on the Real de la Feria in Los Remedios, where it has been held since 1973. By day there are horses and carriages; by night, the casetas, the lights and, if you want to keep going, a club afterwards. This guide is about the night: when it is, what the pescaíto and the alumbrao are, which casetas you can walk into, how late it goes on and how to get home.

The 2027 dates: what we know

The Universidad de Sevilla's 2026-27 calendar gives the week of 12 to 18 April 2027 off for the Feria, and Pablo de Olavide gives 12 to 16 April. In June 2026 the city council proposed Wednesday 14 April, the Feria Wednesday, as one of its two local holidays for 2027, pending final approval. Travel sites give 13 to 18 April. All of that fits the format the council went back to in 2025, from the Monday of the pescaíto to the Sunday, six days in all. In 2026 that meant the pescaíto on Monday 20 April and the Feria proper from Tuesday 21 to Sunday 26. Until the bando is out, treat 12 to 18 April 2027 as expected, not confirmed. One more thing for 2027: the fairground extension won't be finished until 2028, according to the mayor.

The pescaíto and the alumbrao

The Feria starts on a Monday night with the pescaíto: the members of each caseta meet for a dinner of fried fish and seafood. At midnight comes the alumbrao, when the main gate and the thousands of bulbs of the fairground are switched on; in 2026 that was at midnight going into Tuesday 21 April. The dinner is a night for caseta members and their guests; the alumbrao, at the gate, happens in the open.

Public casetas: where anyone can go in

This is the question every visitor asks. Most of the more than 1,000 casetas (1,040 in 2026, according to Europa Press) are private: you need an invitation or to go in with a member. The public ones, run by bodies like the city council and the city districts, usually let anyone in. In 2026 there were only 16 of them. We'll add the 2027 list once the council publishes it. If you're an exchange student, ESN Sevilla UPO publishes a Feria guide for Erasmus students.

How late it goes on

Since 2005 the fairground lights have gone off at 03:00, except on Saturday, when they stay on until 06:00, and on Sunday, when they go off at midnight with the fireworks that close the Feria. Carriages only circulate between 12:00 and 20:00, so the night belongs to people on foot. Legally, Andalusia's Decree 155/2018 lets municipal fairs keep the hours the council sets (article 19), while private fairs and verbenas close at 02:00. During local fiestas the council may also extend the closing time of bars and clubs by up to two hours (article 23); whether Seville does so for the 2027 Feria will be in its resolution.

The Calle del Infierno

Next to the casetas is the Calle del Infierno, the funfair, with more than a hundred rides. Unlike most casetas, you don't need an invitation to go in.

After the Feria: clubs

If you want to carry on after the casetas, here's a warning first: if you search for Feria de Abril and club, Google tends to send you to Discoteca Abril, at Calle Luis Montoto 118, which has nothing to do with the Feria. As for Feria parties, no club had announced one for 2027 when we wrote this; we'll add them here, with the date and the venue's own announcement, as they come out. The big clubs, like Antique Theatro on the Isla de la Cartuja and Uthopia in the Plaza de Armas, keep their usual nights. For a table or a guest list during Feria week, message us on WhatsApp and we'll tell you what's on each night.

Getting home

Metro de Sevilla and TUSSAM, the city buses, publish special Feria services a few days before; we'll add the 2027 ones when they're out. For reference, on a normal week Metro line 1 runs until 02:00 on Fridays, Saturdays and nights before holidays, and TUSSAM's night buses (A1 to A8) leave the Prado de San Sebastián from 00:00 to 05:00 on those nights, although some lines carry a note excluding the spring fiestas. Seville's taxi fares also have their own bands for Holy Week and the Feria.

Frequently asked questions

When is the 2027 April Fair?

It's expected from Monday 12 April (pescaíto expected that night, not announced) to Sunday 18 April 2027: the Universidad de Sevilla has that week off for the Feria and the council has proposed Wednesday 14 April as a local holiday. The city's announcement (the bando) hadn't been published when we wrote this.

Can you get into the casetas without an invitation?

Into most, no: the majority of the more than 1,000 casetas are private and you need an invitation or a member with you. The public ones, like the city council's and the districts', usually let anyone in; in 2026 there were 16.

How late does the Feria go on?

The lights of the fairground go off at 03:00 most nights, stay on until 06:00 on Saturday and go off at midnight on Sunday, with the fireworks. Municipal fairs keep the hours the council sets (Decree 155/2018, art. 19).

What is the pescaíto?

The first night of the Feria, on the Monday: members of the casetas meet for a fried-fish dinner, and at midnight the fairground lights are switched on (the alumbrao). In 2026 it was on Monday 20 April.

Which clubs are open during the Feria?

Clubs keep their usual nights, and we'll list the Feria parties that venues announce for 2027 here. Note that Discoteca Abril, on Calle Luis Montoto, has nothing to do with the Feria de Abril, even if Google mixes them up.

How do I get a table or guest list for a Feria night?

Message us on WhatsApp with the night and the size of your group and we'll tell you which clubs have something on and what's available. Best to ask in advance.
